Consultation FAQs
Welcome! We are thrilled you would like to book a consultation with us. We know that most people have no idea what to expect during their initial consultation and that talking to a lawyer can be nerve-wracking. Take a deep breath and relax. We have compiled this list of some of the most frequently asked questions that people often have about what to expect during an initial consultation with an attorney so that you can feel better prepared when you decide to move forward.
What are some reasons I might need a consultation?
Family Law & Divorce:
- If you need to file or have been served with a complaint
- To learn more about the law if you believe you may end up in a divorce or other family law case
- To explore your options and gain a better understanding of the process for your family law matter
- If you’re shopping for attorneys to find the best fit for your situation
All consultations will be conducted online via Zoom. This allows you to meet with our Client Service Coordinator from the comfort of your home or office, wherever it’s most convenient for you. We’ve found that virtual consultations provide the flexibility to address your needs effectively, without the need for travel or scheduling conflicts.
During your consultation, you’ll meet with our Client Service Coordinator, a knowledgeable member of our team trained to provide you with valuable information regarding your situation. While the Client Service Coordinator cannot provide legal advice (as they are not an attorney), they will provide detailed information about your case, help clarify your options, and answer any questions you may have. This allows you to make informed decisions about how to move forward with legal representation.
Rest assured, if you choose to hire our firm, one of our experienced attorneys will be assigned to your case, and we will work closely with you to develop a strategy tailored to your needs.
If want to meet in person frequently, you may want to choose an attorney that works in the office nearest to you. We have offices in Tewksbury and Danvers. We do have a handful of clients that do not live in Middlesex or Essex county, or they live out of Massachusetts altogether. We are very comfortable working virtually and sometimes hearings and mediations also can occur virtually as well.
Currently, we do not offer free consultations for attorney services. However, we offer affordable consultation options with our Client Service Coordinator:
- $175 for a 30-minute consultation
- $299 for a 1-hour consultation
Consultations typically last up to 1 hour. This allows you ample time to discuss your situation, ask questions, and receive important information about your next steps.
Yes, if you are a returning client, you can hire us without a consultation. For new clients, we require a consultation to ensure we understand your situation and to provide you with the best possible guidance before proceeding with representation.
During your consultation with the Client Service Coordinator, you will:
- Receive detailed information about your situation
- Learn about the potential options available to you
- Have your questions answered and gain clarity about your next steps
This session is designed to help you make informed decisions about moving forward with your case. The Client Service Coordinator will not offer legal advice but will provide the information you need to understand your case better.
Before your consultation, please complete our preliminary intake questionnaire. This includes:
- Your name, email, and phone number
- The name of the opposing party
- Basic information to help us determine if your case falls within our jurisdiction
All information shared will be kept confidential.
- If you’ve been served with court paperwork, please bring it with you
- A copy of your original marriage certificate or child’s birth certificate (if applicable)
- Any recent tax returns, pay stubs, or bank statements, especially if child support or alimony is involved
- Any documents you believe may be relevant to your case (including evidence like texts, emails, or other communications)
The more information you bring, the better we can evaluate your situation and provide accurate guidance.
